ACADEMIC CHALLENGE IS GOING GREEN BY REMOVING THE NEED TO PRINT. WE HAVE SIMPLIFIED THE PROCESS AND ALL SUBMISSIONS MAY NOW BE PROCESSED ONLINE!!
Clyde Hill PTA is pleased to once again offer the Academic Challenge – a voluntary, non-competitive program consisting of seven academic activities/projects that run throughout the school year.
The students sharpen their skills learned in the classroom, participate in school-wide events and learn the invaluable lesson of pursuing academic curiosity and challenge. At the completion of each Challenge, the child earns a reward a ribbon). If all 7 Challenges are completed, the principal awards the child a trophy at the end-of-year assembly. The children take great pride in being publicly recognized and accomplishing their goal!
This year we have Seven Challenges and a few with some great changes:
- Eight Hours of Math
- Five Book Reviews
- Five Hours of Keyboarding Skills (Typing)
- Reflections Art Project
- Heritage Festival Project
- Young Scientists Week Project (Science Fair)
- Wellness Activity
The child can choose to complete any number of the Challenges over the course of the year, and we encourage them to select as many as feasible to experience the broadest level of academic enhancement and learning.

Although the Academic Challenge is designed to support the Clyde Hill Elementary student curriculum, it is not funded by the state, district or school; this program is brought to you by the Clyde Hill PTA. For some of the Challenges there may be a cost for materials depending on the type of project each student may elect to complete, however, this year there will be no fee charged for participating. For students/families that may find it difficult to complete the challenges due to costs that may be incurred for supplies, please notify the Clyde Hill PTA President for help in deferring these costs through the PTA Scholarship Program.
Although Parents may chose to purchase presentation boards and supplies at their choice of locations, please consider purchasing directly from Amazon Smiles. The Clyde Hill PTA receives a donation from Amazon for each purchased made through the Amazon Smiles site which may be accessed by clicking on the image below:
