This school year we will start implementing a Social Emotional Learning approach.   The RULER Approach is the result of decades of research on emotional intelligence conducted by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. This research has proven that emotional skills are integral to personal, social and academic success.  We strongly believe that engaging families in this effort is critical for the success of this initiative.

Family RULER night on Wednesday, April 1st at Wilburton Instructional Service Center (WISC) Rainier Room (Building 1), 12241 Main Street, Bellevue, WA 98005; 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. See flyer. For information please contact honoress@bsd405.org

Bellevue District is experiencing a significant substitute teacher shortage.  WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP! Please consider! Also, please forward this to your friends and or anyone you think would be interested and have them forward on too! We need help getting the word out to as many people as possible.

Are you or anyone you know of looking for work that has flexible hours? Looking for a job where you can select a location of your choice? Do you enjoy being around and working with children? Substituting in the Bellevue School District might be for you! Bellevue School District is seeking to hire substitutes for all positions. We have several positions where a teaching certificate is not required. Positions include, but are not limited to Educational Assistants, Instructional Assistants, Para Educators, Early Learning Program, Nutrition Services, Bus Drivers, etc. If an individual is interested in being a substitute teacher, but does not have a certificate, please inquire with us. The Bellevue School District is excited to invite you to be part of the Parent Ambassador Program. As an active member of our community we would like for you to be part of a network of parents focused on family engagement. Through effective advocacy training, you will be supported in becoming partner advocates for other families in your schools.  A certificate of completion will accompany a recommendation to school administrators and staff of participants’ readiness to partner with other families for assistance in school navigation and advocacy.

For information please contact honoress@bsd405.org

The VIBES program serves so many children at Clyde Hill and elsewhere in the District. Please consider volunteering as a VIBES mentor or tutor and encourage others you know – from your neighborhood, office, civic group, or place of worship – to consider this as well. Becoming a VIBES volunteer is easy – just fill out an application form (if you have not already done so as a parent volunteer) and attend a 1 ½ hour training session. Click here for more information.

Bellevue School District has a variety of websites available to teachers and families to support and promote student learning.  Please see the Online Curriculum Resources flyer to learn more about these tools. If you have questions, contact Laurie Harvey, harveyl@bsd405.org, Clyde Hill Instructional Technology Curriculum Leader (ITCL).
