The Reflections Program is a National PTA arts program for students from pre-K through grade 12. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works of art in response to a theme.

Students, please submit you original artwork (by December 1st) that expresses your ideas about "I am hopeful because"!  It will be displayed during our Student Art Gallery and Community Dessert Reception, December 7th, 6:00pm-7:30pm!  Invite your friends and family to support your art and expression!

Clyde Hill Community, please join us for our Student Art Gallery and Community Potluck Dessert Reception, December 7th, 6:00pm-7:30pm, to celebrate our students artistic expressions!

Entry submission due date: December 1 (scan and email submissions and registration form to reflections@clydehillpta.org).

Students or parents can drop off physical artwork in the Reflections Box in the front office. Please make sure that artwork is correctly labeled with your student’s name, grade, teacher, title of artwork, and the description on the back.  Please read all of the rules for the different categories.  Works submitted that do not conform to the Requirements will not be able to advance to the Council.  For Visual works of art please be mindful of size and how the work is mounted.  See rules in the links below.

Student Art Gallery and Potluck Dessert Reception: December 7th, 6p - 7:30p in the school gym. We need volunteers to help set up for the art show. If you are able to volunteer, please email Kate Scher. Please RSVP!

Categories

Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 students are encouraged to submit original works of art in one or more of the following categories (Clyde Hill is reducing the category submissions this year):

  • Literature – works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, short stories and lyrics.

  • Musical Composition – original musical composition, with or without words.

  • Photography – color or black and white, included techniques: photogram, negative sandwich, and multiple exposure.

  • Visual Arts – drawing, painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor & t-shirt paints, computer generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework & leather tooling.

Special Artist Division: Students with disabilities may receive special accommodations by entering the special artist division and are encouraged to enter any category.

Participation is organized by student age and grade levels. Student works are critiqued against others in the same grade division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The grade divisions are:

  • Primary: Pre-school – Grade 2

  • Intermediate: Grades 3 – 5

Entries are judged on creative ability and interpretation of the theme.
